Special Tours 2011 Season



Tales & Tombstones  

Dusk transforms the city of Salem.  As the city of renown seafarers and distinguished architecture fades into the shadows, a new Salem of the occult and paranormal emerges.

Visit scenes of grisly murders and ghastly executions, hear tales of ghosts, both mischievous and malevolent, of Salem's haunted hotels and restaurants of long forgotten underground passageways, ancient curses and legends of ghost ships and haunted islands.

You will experience all of this and more as you ride the Salem Trolley's Tales & Tombstones Tour and explore Salem of the Shadows.

Tour is approximately 1 hour.  Tour departs from our 8 Central Street office.

Adults $20.00, Seniors (60+) $15.00 and Children (6-14) $10.00

Ghosts & Legends Trolley Tour

Ride the Trolley through the dark streets of Salem with a sinister guide as you experience  tales of witches, ghosts and murder, then end your tour at The Witches Cottage for our five star rated supernatural witchcraft and ghost show!  Limited seating, reservations strongly suggested.  

Tickets: $25 adults, $20 children. Allow 1 hour. Boarding at The Witches Cottage, 7 Lynde Street.

The House of the Seven Gables and the Salem Trolley Present…

The Lace Reader Tour

Thousands of avid readers both nationally and internationally have devoured Salem author Brunonia Barry’s debut novel The Lace Reader propelling it straight to The New York Times Best-Seller List. Now experience the sights and sounds of Towner Whitney’s Salem on this tour offered by The House of the Seven Gables and the Salem Trolley. This experience begins with a trolley tour around Salem highlighting many of the streets, neighborhoods and locations Brunonia Barry used to craft her compelling plot. Groups are treated to a professionally guided tour that interweaves fact and fiction and features excerpts from the novel recorded by Brunonia Barry herself! The tour continues at The House of the Seven Gables. Just as Salem inspired The Lace Reader, the Turner-Ingersoll Mansion inspired legendary American author Nathaniel Hawthorne immortalizing the house as The House of the Seven Gables forever. This tour includes a guided tour of the Mansion, Nathaniel Hawthorne’ Birthplace, three-season gardens and the Museum Store.

This unique tour is approximately 2 ½ hours for groups of 15 – 45.Tickets are $25 per person.

Now entering into it's 25th Season, this humorous & whimsical interactive performance reanimates Dickens’ timeless seasonal holiday classic. Experience Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol with a twist. Ride along with Scrooge on the Salem Trolley as the classic tale is brought to life in a completely unexpected way. Shows sell out quickly and seats are limited. Tickets go on sale September 12, 2011.
